IU8 Transportation provides:
1. Travel to/from and between schools
2. Specialized equipment, including special or adapted buses with lifts and ramps required to provide special education for a child with a disability
3. Travel to and from community-based sites for the purposes of instruction and work
To ensure IU8's contractors, drivers, and aides are knowledgeable, competent and skilled in their daily work, each is required to attend yearly trainings to receive instruction in topics specifically related to transporting students with disabilities and ensuring student safety. Training topics include:

Seizure Disorders
Blood borne Pathogens
Wheelchair Securement
Proper Car/Booster Seat Use
Emergency Evacuations for Special Needs Students
Transporting Medically Fragile Students
Transporting Preschoolers
Student Records and Confidentiality
Types of Exceptional Students and Behavior Intervention Strategies
Dealing with Difficult Parents
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Bullying
